Description: Various ecosystems in the CRD including Agricultural Land Reserve, Garry Oaks, Sensitive Ecosystems and Victoria Natural History Society Assessments.
Description: Historical estimate of Garry Oak ecosystem extent, circa 1800. Produced by HR GISolutions Inc. Field theme represents decile portion of the ecosystem that is garry oak. dec1, hab1, dec2, hab2 are decile and garry oak (GO) or no oak (NO).
Description: Extent of Garry Oak ecosystems, 1997, determined using Sensitive Ecosystem Inventory Polygons. Sensitive Ecosystem Information processed by Ministry of Sustainable Resource Mangement Conservation Data Center staff.
Description: Sensitive Ecosystem polygons designated by The Conservation Data Centre. This is an updated 2004 version which has modifed some polygons based on 2002 orthophotos. Additional fields have been added to indicate if a polygon is now considered disturbed and no longer sensitive. This SEI disturbance mapping project was done by the Canadian Wildlife Service as part of the joint Environment Canada (CWS), MSRM, and WLAP SEI. Refer to http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/sei for more information. Data also includes new data provided by external consultant conducting SEI surveys in the Otter Point and Shirley-Jordan River areas. See JDF Planning for more information on those specific areas. Data for Otter Point and Shirley Jordan River can be found in U:\Archive\Raw_Data_From_Outside_Sources\PrivateCompany. Data merged under direction of JDF Planning office. During updates, please do not delete this data.

Description: The Sharp-tailed Snake Potential (Suitable) Habitat layer is part of the recovery strategy for the sharp-tailed snake in BC. The primary focus of the Recovery Strategy for the Sharp Tailed Snake in BC is to ensure that further loss and fragmentation of the habitats are prevented. This layer plays a key role in helping achieve recovery of this species by informing the developers, land managers, biological consulting companies ( conducting environmental assessments), and land owners of the possibility that this species might occur on their lands. These landowners and land managers can then ensure that activities that take place on the property are compatible with the goal of protecting habitat for this species. Updates to this layer are anticipated every 3-5 years. The recovery strategy document (2008): http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/wld/documents/recovery/rcvrystrat/sharp-tailed_snake_rcvry_strat_1008.pdf
