Description: A survey of the subtidal physical and biological features of the VEHEAP Harbours area (Victoria and Esquimalt Harbour, Gorge and Portage Inlet and Esquimalt Lagoon) with the intent of mapping the general distribution and position of physical and biological features for both inventory and harbour management purposes. The distribution of gravel sized sediments on the seabed based on visual classification of each second of the video imagery for the survey area. Gravel cover is also classified visually and mapped in one of five cover categories. Gravel Size Categories: boulder: >25.6cm; cobble: 6.4 to 25.6cm; pebble: 4mm to 6.4cm; granules: 2-4mm. Cover Codes: 5-30% = sparse gravel cover; 30-50% = low; 50-80% = moderate; >80% = dense; wood = wood debris - substrate obscured; vegetation = dense vegetation - substrate obscured; rock; no survey
